Apartments, Sargood St, Altona

This boutique, contemporary collection of 15 apartments over four levels is positioned close to Altona railway station. Smart Plumbing was brought on board by one of our long-term partners, Mancini Made, to provide a complete civils, fire and hydraulics package.

As well as the usual complications of working in a built-up area, this project posed challenges involving the installation of drains around the basement and car-stacker level. Working alongside the concreters during the excavation phase, we were able to install the pump pit well below the water table.

Smart Plumbing also installed a hot water package, hot water return lines, gas mains, 100mm fire services and 100mm tapping. As always, we were mindful of our impact on the area, which in this case included a neighbouring RSL. All works were carried out to accommodate pedestrian safety and council timeframes.

With no major problems, no ongoing defects, and delivery on-time and under-budget, both the client and the builder on this project were extremely satisfied with our work.
