Under Victorian law, rental providers are legally required to meet all minimum standards before advertising or leasing a property. Meeting your obligations gives you and your tenants peace of mind.

As of 25 November 2025, rental properties must meet all minimum standards before they can be advertised. A non-compliant property cannot be listed, which can directly impact your rental income and cause costly leasing delays.
Renters also have the right to formally dispute non-compliance through Consumer Affairs Victoria. If a rental property fails to meet minimum standards, the renter has the right to either terminate the agreement before moving in or move in and request the issues be fixed as an urgent repair.

Yes. Blind cord anchor checks and installation are included in our inspection where required. If your property needs blind cord anchors installed to meet the safety standard, we’ll identify this during the inspection and can complete the installation as part of the rectification process.

If your current rental agreement started on or after 29 March 2021, or if a fixed term agreement rolled over into a periodic tenancy on or after that date, your property must meet the minimum standards. Even if your property is currently tenanted, we recommend an inspection to ensure ongoing compliance and avoid potential penalties or tenant disputes.
